Felt Fringe Flowers

Felt flowers are all over crafty blog land.  I especially love the fringe flowers.  I saw a die that's used to make one and it looked easy to make by myself.  I cut regular 9"x12" felt lengthwise into strips with different widths (about 1.5" width) and folded it in half.  I rolled it and inserted a safety pin at one end (not the fold side) to hold it.

I snipped the felt at the fold to create the petals.

It unravels into these fringe flowers.

To create a little variation I snipped at the fold of some of the flowers to double the number of petals.

Here's all my felt fringe flowers waiting to be used.  You can use a glue gun to keep the felt together at the back and remove the safetypin or sew it.

Clothespin Magnets

I found these bamboo clothespin at a local hardware supply store (it's also sold online at Walmart).  It's pretty sturdy than the regular wood clothespin I've seen before.  

I cut some regular felt with various Sizzix flower dies (Daisies and Flower Layers) and stacked them.  I added a large button and tied it with rustic twine to the clothespin.

Finally, I glued a magnet at the back.

Now I have some pretty fall theme flower magnets to hold my kid's school papers.

Doilies and Dahlias

Doilies are everywhere in the crafting world so I decided to try my hand on one and I'm loving it.  It gives the card a different dimension.  Since the doily is bright white I inked it a little to make it blend.  For the flower I used PTI's Delightful Dahlia stamp and dies with a couple of buttons with twine. 

 

On this card I used the same Dahlia dies but tried it on felt.  I layered scalloped strips of paper to create a ruffle effect.  All paper used is from PTI.

More Felt!

I'm really digging felt as an embellishment. I can't stay away from them but I must say paper is still my first love =D. Here's a couple more cards with felt using a not so conventional color schemes. Everything is pretty much PTI products.

Fun with Felt

I started playing with felt recently and created these flowers using a flower die cut from sizzix. I just used the cheap felt from M so its very fibrous so the simpler the flower design the better.

The first fluffy felt flower was inspired from Betsy Veldman's flower tutorial and the notebook page was inspired by Dawn McVey's and Nicole Heady's PTI countdown for July.
